Morris Canal

Not all of our trips directly involve railroads. On April 11th, several Club members along with honorary member and noted historian Bill Greenberg set out to trace the Morris Canal east of its highest point at Lake Hopatcong. We are looking north on Shippenport Road in Landing, NJ where the canal crossed diagonally into the woods on the left. The planes are designated East and West counting away from Lake Hopatcong. This is the top of Plane 1 East. The plain tender's quarters used to stand in the vacant lot to the right.
