An unexpectedly powerful east-facing CP train stops for a red signal at the junction behind us before heading south to Albany. Amazingly only one track of this massive yard remains, however new rail has been dropped for a planned container transloading facility that will allow trucks to pick up and drop off both containers and trailers and for double stack trains to be broken into single stacks. Hoosac Tunnel on the route to Boston does not have clearance for double stack container trains. Likewise, a single stack train coming west from Boston could potentially double its cargo here before continuing to Binghamton and points west.
